Business Development Rep
Also called BDR
Business development representative: much like an SDR, focused on generating and qualifying new opportunities, sometimes leaning more toward outbound prospecting and partnerships.
Why it matters
The BDR and SDR labels overlap and vary by company, but both describe the pipeline-building role that feeds closers. What matters is the function, keeping qualified opportunities flowing, not the exact title.
For example
A business development rep researches 50 target accounts a week and books qualified meetings for the account executives to close.
