Syndicate
Also called Angel Syndicate
A group of angel investors who pool money to back a startup, usually led by one lead who sources and diligences the deal while others invest alongside through an SPV.
Why it matters
Syndicates let a founder raise a meaningful round from many small cheques through a single lead and one line on the cap table. They have widened access to angel money well beyond a founder's own network.
For example
A well-known angel leads a syndicate, diligences the deal, and 30 backers invest alongside through an SPV for a combined 4 crore.
