How do I write prompts that get good UI out of AI design tools?

The short answer

Treat every prompt like a mini design brief: name the user, the screen's single job, real content (not lorem ipsum), and explicit style constraints, then iterate one component or screen at a time instead of regenerating whole pages. Every serious tool now publishes its own prompting guide (Lovable, v0, Figma Make); steal their patterns rather than inventing your own. Two power moves: keep a reusable style-and-stack preamble you paste into every session, and start from a screenshot of a product whose design you admire.
