Aha Moment

The point where a new user first genuinely gets the value of your product, the moment it clicks. Often tied to a specific action, like Facebook's early finding of seven friends in ten days.

Why it matters

Users who hit the aha moment retain; those who do not, leave. Finding yours, and redesigning onboarding to get people there fast, is one of the highest-leverage moves for activation and retention.

For example

For an early social product, the aha moment was a user connecting with seven friends in their first ten days; those who did stuck around, those who did not left.
