Consent Manager

Under India's DPDP Act, a company registered with the Data Protection Board that gives people one place to give, review and withdraw their consent for the use of their personal data across many businesses. The rules for consent managers apply from 13 November 2026.

Why it matters

Consent managers could become a common way for users to grant and pull permission, so a product that handles personal data may need to accept consent that arrives through one. A startup can also apply to become one, which brings registration and strict obligations of its own.

For example

A user who once agreed to share data with a lending app withdraws that consent from a consent manager's dashboard, and the lender must stop using it.
