Series A

The first large priced round, raised once you have real product-market fit and a repeatable way to grow. A lead VC sets the terms and usually takes a board seat.

Why it matters

Series A is where the bar jumps from promising to proven: investors want evidence the model scales, not just early traction. It is the round most startups find hardest to reach.
