Stealth Mode

Also called Stealth

Operating quietly without publicly revealing what you are building, to avoid tipping off competitors or before you are ready to launch.

Why it matters

Stealth can protect a genuine edge, but founders often overrate secrecy, most ideas are not that unique, and staying hidden costs feedback, hiring, and early customers. The bias for most startups is toward talking to users, not hiding from them.

For example

A founder builds quietly in stealth to avoid tipping off a big competitor, then reveals the product only when it is ready to launch.
