UPI AutoPay
Also called E-Mandate, UPI Mandate, and Recurring Payments
A UPI feature that lets a customer approve a recurring payment once, with their UPI PIN, after which the business can debit up to the approved amount on schedule. Subscription apps and software businesses in India widely use it to collect renewals.
Why it matters
Recurring billing in India runs on e-mandates under RBI rules: each debit needs a notice to the customer at least 24 hours ahead, and debits above ₹15,000 (₹1 lakh for insurance, mutual funds and credit card bills) need the customer to authenticate again. Plan your billing flow, pricing and failed-payment handling around those limits.
For example
A fitness app moves monthly members to UPI AutoPay; each customer approves a ₹499 mandate once and is notified a day before every renewal.
