Doing the work

I have a backlog of 30 activation ideas and no way to rank them. How do I decide what to build?

Rank by where the drop-off is largest, not by how clever the idea is. Break the path from signup to activation into every discrete step, count how many people leave at each, and multiply the size of the leak by how confident you are that you can fix it. That usually collapses 30 ideas into three that matter. The tactics that move activation most consistently across companies are boring: simplify the signup, cut steps, fix the copy so it says what the user gets, and send a well-timed email to people who stalled. Personal outreach to early users also works and is worth doing even though it does not scale, because it tells you why people left, which no dashboard will.
