What age does my child need to be to use ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Meta AI, and what can I set?

Each maker sets its own floor. ChatGPT is not meant for children under 13, and 13 to 18 year olds need a parent's consent. Link your account to your teen's under Settings, Parental controls to reduce sensitive content, turn off voice, image making or memory, set quiet hours when ChatGPT is off, and study hours that start chats in study mode; you cannot read their chats, but you may be alerted to a serious safety concern. Gemini can be switched on for a child under 13 through Family Link, with extra filters, and in India a teen manages their own Google Account from 13. Claude requires users to be 18. Meta AI keeps its assistant on for teens with age-appropriate protections but has paused AI characters.
