How do I get a warm introduction to an investor when I don't know anyone who knows them?

A starting point

Stop treating warm intros as something you either have or don't. You manufacture them. Map the target investor's portfolio founders, then get to know one or two of those founders first (they are far more reachable and their intro carries the most weight). Other paths: other angels who co-invest with them, operators at their portfolio companies, and program or accelerator alumni. A founder they already funded vouching for you beats any other channel.
