Director, Marketing, Filo

Hi! I am Shailendra, a Brand Marketing professional with 8.5 years of experience. I lead the Marketing function at Filo (series A funded edtech startup). I've worked in the media (HT Media), entertainment (TVF) and education (BYJU'S) space across 3 cities - Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore.

I have the distinction of building the Marketing function at Filo. Over the course of my career, I have crafted large scale national campaigns, created ad films, spearheaded the brand purpose mining exercise, built the PR function and led B2C & B2B partnerships

My personal story:
I was born and brought up in Kalyan, in the suburbs of Mumbai. My roots exposed me to the hardships of rural life, socio-cultural nuances, and the importance of customs, changing patterns in agriculture, politics at ground level, etc. At the same time, because I went to school in Kalyan; I saw the aspirations of a suburban town to blend into the cosmopolitan flavour of Mumbai. In fact, I was part of it. I was uniquely placed to understand the world evolving around me.

My early learnings in life came from the world of sports. My heroes were fighters like Anil Kumble, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid - people who dreamt of scaling the unthinkable. While sport kept me going, it was cinema that kept me up at night. I was blown away when I first read the quote - A film is made three times: first on the page, then on set, and finally in the edit. I really love the idea of communicating a thought. During my learning days at MICA, I wrote plays, acted and directed them. My stint at TVF allowed me to go deeper in the world of film-making.

As I trudged along, I was bowled over after learning Micro, Macro and Behavioral economics. The rational vs irrational interplay of theory and practical behavior of humans dazzled me. Further, a year later, the message 'Find your own Truth' from Bhagavad Gita had a profound impact on me. To be able to make a sense of how macro plays a role in the micro and to be able to do that with a fairly logical understanding of intent behind it gave a meaning to things happening around me. I love understanding people, culture and the politics of it.

The eChai Effect - In Their Words

"If there’s one phrase that sums up my journey, it’s truly ‘The eChai Effect.’ Six years ago, I simply walked into my first eChai event, not knowing what to expect. The honest conversations, energy, and inspiration from founders and entrepreneurs struck a chord within me. That eChai spark became the catalyst for everything to follow. I proudly say: my entrepreneurship journey started—and keeps evolving—because of eChai. Redicine Medsol’s story is integrally linked to this community. I’ve gained so much, not just as a founder but as a forever volunteer and grateful member of the eChai family. With all my heart, thank you Jatin Bhai and everyone at eChai for shaping, guiding, and supporting my dreams. The eChai Effect will always be a part of my story."

"From late-night brainstorming over chai to early morning founder calls, eChai has been more than just a network for me; it’s been home base for ideas, impact, and inspiration. What started as a simple meetup years ago turned into a powerful movement, connecting founders, creators, and dreamers. I’ve had the privilege of seeing startups find product-market fit, marketers (like me) find unexpected collaborations, and most importantly, people finding their tribe. संगच्छध्वं संवदध्वं – Let us move together, speak together. It’s not just a verse from the Rigveda — it’s how Jatin and the entire eChai community truly operate. We don’t just network, we grow together. Forever grateful to be a part of the eChai Effect.

“I have no hesitation in saying that my association with eChai has been a gateway into the startup ecosystem. Through this platform, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with many young and dynamic entrepreneurs. These interactions have been immensely enriching - I’ve learned a great deal and have always tried to offer guidance whenever approached. It’s a truly symbiotic relationship that I deeply value, and it wouldn’t have been possible without eChai.”
