Introduction:
Vikas Sunkad has an impressive history working across different functions in CPG businesses in both offline and online channels. Vikas views his career as comprising 3 distinct parts; the initial 8 years in the Supply Chain domain followed by a cross-functional move to Sales where he could create a high impact over the next 9 years and then a transition to business head roles with end-to-end accountability and leadership of cross-functional teams.
Work Experience:
Vikas wanted to build something grounds-up and plunged into a very early-stage VC-backed start-up, 10Club. As a Partner Supply Chain, Vikas took the organization from a 0-1 and then a 1-10 scale, and within a year, he earned a promotion to COO. He worked there from 2021 to 2023, post which he ventured out with his own firm Sunrise Ventures with an idea to help early-stage startups in their 0-1, scale-up and fundraise journey.
He worked with Coca-Cola India for 16 years (from 2005 to 2021) where he grew from a frontline Sales Leadership position to being the Vice President of the largest Region in India. During this time, he handled Sales, Capability Building, Strategy & Innovation, and P&L head roles and consistently over-delivered on sales and P&L targets.
Vikas worked with Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd. (The Coca-Cola Companyβs Bottler) from 2003 to 2005, delivering solid savings in logistics and significantly improving inventory turns.
From 1997 to 2003, he worked with Britannia Industries Limited in various roles spanning across Supply Chain Domain, notable among them were establishing a Central Planning Function in 2002, implementing SAP R/3 in 2000-01, conceiving and implementing a sophisticated supply chain modeling project that resulted in huge cost savings in 1997-98.
Key Highlights:
Vikas has been involved in international projects, such as launching Coke Zero in Australia, the Global RED Launch in Brazil, as well as working with colleagues from around the world on developing the Franchise Leadership Framework. This has helped him gain valuable knowledge of global methods and a new viewpoint from an outside perspective.
As part of his job, he has extensively traveled across the markets domestically and has a deep understanding of the Route to Market and Execution challenges of different states within India.
Tech Implementation:
He has been part of transformative Technology projects like Simulation Modelling, ERP Implementation, Sales Force Automation, Data Analytics, and Implementation of Order Management System and Warehouse Management System, which have given him a deep understanding of the cross-section between business and technology.
Education Background:
He had an outstanding all-round academic performance being in the top 1% throughout, having an All-India Rank of No.7 and a Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) percentile of 99.90 in 1995. He has valued continued education and along the way in his career, he has completed an EDP from Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), South Africa, Certificate in Strategic Retail Management (CSRM) from ISB Hyderabad apart from EPGM at MIT Sloan.
