Is it safe to paste confidential contracts into ChatGPT?

Not on the default consumer tier: prompts can feed training, chats are retained for abuse monitoring even after deletion, and a US federal court has already held AI conversations carry no privilege. Use business or enterprise tiers (or the API) with training off, strip names and numbers first, or use a legal tool with contractual zero-data-retention. Assume anything you paste could one day be read back to you in discovery, and treat NDA-covered documents accordingly.
