More about Sumedha Mahajan

Head of Marketing, India @ Ampverse l Ex-MPL, Paytm l Startup Advisor I GrowthX Mentor & Demo Day Finalist I Mental Health Advocate

I build brands.

I enjoy the 0-1, 1-10 journey and have setup processes from scratch.
A true believer in leveraging multiple channels, I have been fortunate to work across a spectrum of channels and scales. From doing co-branded campaigns with the likes of Coca Cola, to creating a GTM strategy focused only on user experience for Paytm's loyalty program. From driving promoter-led BTL campaigns in Rajasthan's by lanes to marketing and launching the Indian cricket team jersey twice. I am currently helping write the next big chapter for gaming in India, as head of marketing fo Ampverse India geo.

Skilled in Growth and GTM Strategy, Large scale campaigns, Partnerships, with a strong flair for written and oral communication. Proven leadership skills with an MBA focused in Marketing from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies. I started studying psychology primarily because of my volunteer work in mental health, but found it to be of immense value in my marketing journey.

The proudest moment in my career was seeing a footage of the WC Jersey launch led by me, being showcased in the middle of a live international match, for millions of fans worldwide.

Apart from work, I spend my time on a few things which I believe continuously add value to my growth.
One, I write weekly at https://shadesandmuses.substack.com/. Most of my writing is based on stories and observations from my daily life. This has been an excellent creative outlet and helps me communicate better.

Two, I conduct sessions for women on negotiation skills. This is primarily because I realised women are terrible at it. A Yale course, many books and lots of research later, I realized how bad it really was. I now do my bit.

Third, I continuously upskill and learn. Every year I take a full course (Yale's renowned negotiation course, GrowthX, M.A. Psychology, ) and some smaller ones for professional and personal development. Eg: World's most popular online course on The Science of happiness. I believe this is the only way to grow.

As an extension of this, I've also represented India as a delegate in International conferences which have greatly contributed to my learning curve.

Off work, I am a voracious reader, mental health advocate and foodie.

The eChai Effect - In Their Words

“When we launched LegalWiz.in back in 2016, concept of procuring legal and compliance services through a digital commerce platform wasn't as prominent in India. eChai played a significant role in providing the early adopters, and building significant positioning in the startup fraternity. Overtime, eChai grew to be a massive network of like-minded entrepreneurs and extended that benefit to all the members in a true "co-rise" spirit. I personally love to attend eChai events, learn from subject matter experts who share relatable and actionable insights and experiences. For startup journeys, it is so important to be surrounded by people who can add relevance, perspective, and push you to do better. Most importantly a group of people where you aren't being judged about things going right or wrong, but be a motivational force that keeps you going, yet keeping you in check. eChai is that place for me!”

“You don’t plan to build a company via eChai. You just keep showing up … and one day, you realize you did.” I’ve known Jatin since 2012, when I was still deciding what kind of second innings I wanted to play as an entrepreneur. Over the years, through events, chai breaks, intros, and seemingly small conversations, eChai helped shape not just Upsquare but also refined the lens through which we see collaboration. At Upsquare, we’ve hired talent, met partners, discovered co-investors, and built lifelong friendships. One of our joint ventures exists today only because a casual eChai memory sparked a deeper trust. Now, as we build House of Starts — our venture builder — eChai continues to fuel our mission: co-creating a shared future. eChai isn’t just a startup network. It’s a trust network. And for business builders like me, that makes all the difference."

"For me, eChai is a second home. I've been associated with it since the early days, when it was already setting a different tone for how startup communities could work. As a traditional business owner entering the new-age D2C space, eChai supported me in every direction. Over the years, it became my window to the startup world — and also gave me lifelong friends who continue to show up, for business and beyond."
