Does my startup still qualify for DPIIT recognition under the 2026 rules, and what is the new Deep Tech Startup category?

Very likely, because the limits went up. Under the notification of 4 February 2026, which replaced the 2019 framework, an entity counts as a startup for up to 10 years from incorporation as long as its turnover has not crossed ₹200 crore in any year (it was ₹100 crore). A new Deep Tech Startup category runs for up to 20 years with a ₹300 crore ceiling, for companies building on new scientific or engineering knowledge, spending heavily on R&D and owning or creating significant novel IP, and you prove it with extra documents when you apply. Multi-State and State cooperative societies can now be recognised too. If you lost recognition by crossing ₹100 crore, apply again. One thing does not move with it: the 80-IAC tax holiday keeps its own conditions, including turnover up to ₹100 crore and the Inter-Ministerial Board certificate.

This is the single official directory of central and state government schemes for Indian startups, the primary source, not a blog summarising it. If you only bookmark one page for non-dilutive funding, make it this one and filter by your sector, stage, and state.

Startup India, Government Schemes for Startups

From Startup India (startupindia.gov.in) by DPIIT, Government of India Directory / ongoing

  • Aggregates central schemes (Seed Fund, Fund of Funds 2.0, Credit Guarantee Scheme) plus state and ministry-specific programmes in one searchable place.
  • Links out to the partner desks that actually run the money, BIRAC, Atal Innovation Mission, MeitY Startup Hub, DST NIDHI.
  • Most listed schemes require DPIIT recognition first, so treat recognition as prerequisite step zero.
  • Filter by stage and sector rather than scrolling, the wrong-desk application is the most common reason founders get rejected.
