Is LinkedIn a real outbound channel or just noise? Should I be using it alongside cold email?

LinkedIn is real, but it is rarely the channel that books the meeting on its own. In Cognism's 2026 data across roughly 450,000 calls, phone was 57 percent of activity, LinkedIn 27 percent and email 15 percent, and LinkedIn's job was familiarity: your name and face are already known by the time the call or email lands. So use it as a warming layer. View the profile, comment on something they actually wrote, send a connection request with no pitch in it, then call or email. Treat LinkedIn as your only channel and you will spend a lot of hours on a platform that throttles connection requests and rewards patience over volume.
