Usability Test Demo by Steve Krug

Reading about a test is one thing, watching one is another. Here you see a real person try to use a site while Krug facilitates, so you learn exactly what to say, when to shut up, and how obvious the problems become the moment someone else drives. Copy this format and you can run your first test this week.

  • A facilitator mostly stays silent and asks the user to think out loud
  • Neutral prompts like what are you thinking beat leading questions
  • Real hesitation on screen is more convincing than any opinion
