Intellectual Properties are so fascinating. Most of us relate the unique creations to revenue streams, asset building, opportunities to license or ways to curb competition.

Well, for some, they are the only identity and legacy that families wear as a badge of pride.

MotiMahal, an iconic restaurant in Delhi, and most famous for it’s world-admired recipes like ButterChicken and DalMakhani is now in legal battle with a competing restaurant Daryaganj for misusing its website and restaurant layout, and claims over the creation of these iconic dishes.

Interestingly, while it is relatively new in business, owners Jaggis relate to original Moti Mahal owners trio - Kundan Lal Gujral, Kundan Lal Jaggi and Thakur Das Magu.

The matter is with the Delhi High Court, and it would be interesting to see how it unfolds.

The eChai Effect - In Their Words

"For me, eChai is a second home. I've been associated with it since the early days, when it was already setting a different tone for how startup communities could work. As a traditional business owner entering the new-age D2C space, eChai supported me in every direction. Over the years, it became my window to the startup world — and also gave me lifelong friends who continue to show up, for business and beyond."
