How the best do it

Which companies actually run the best channel programs, and what do they do differently?

The short answer

Look at three very different models rather than at a framework. HubSpot built its agency channel by putting partners through its own culture and giving them the same enablement its direct reps got, then tiering on retention and certification instead of raw volume. Salesforce runs the enterprise playbook: mandatory certification and four tiers from Registered to Summit, aimed at integrators who deliver large implementations. Zoho does the opposite, with no entry fee, no mandatory certification, three tiers and margins up to 40%, aimed at small regional IT firms. None of these is objectively best, since each matches its own product and buyer, and the classic failure is copying a program built for a different kind of company.
