On 9 April 2026 Sullivan & Cromwell filed an emergency motion for provisional relief in the Chapter 15 proceedings of Prince Global Holdings. It carried fabricated case citations, quotations attributed to decisions that do not contain them and authorities that do not exist; opposing counsel at Boies Schiller Flexner found them. Nine days later Andrew Dietderich, who co-heads the firm's restructuring practice, wrote to Chief Judge Martin Glenn taking personal responsibility and attaching a schedule of dozens of corrections. What makes it worth reading is what the letter says the firm already had in place: mandatory training on generative AI, modules instructing lawyers to trust nothing and verify everything, and an office manual requiring every AI-generated citation to be independently checked before anything leaves the building. A policy that says the right thing is not a control.
