Live @thsottiaux reset at Dev Day!!
Roberto Nickson filming Tibo's Codex usage reset, done live at DevDay.
On 29 September OpenAI announced more than twenty things at DevDay in San Francisco: dots, always-on agents with a computer of their own; GPT-6.1 Sol, which OpenAI says comes close to Astra at a fifth of the price; ChatGPT Space and Pages for teams working alongside agents; Codex in the cloud, computer use in the Agents API, and a Pro 500 plan. We are collecting the launches in OpenAI's own words, what was shown on stage, what people tried and argued about in the first hours, and the night before, each in the poster's own words. Nobody in these bylines is on eChai, and every entry links back to where it was posted.

DREAM PROJECT HAPPENED!!! 😇😇😇
Slope got to make @OpenAI DevDay merch!!!
If you're there pls send me pics/videos :)))
Andrew Ambrosino, who works on Codex and ChatGPT at OpenAI, on how the day's launches reached the web and the desktop apps at the same time.
Over the past 5 weeks, the team completely rewrote ChatGPT Web on top of the desktop app codebase.
This was only possible with Astra, and it’s why Dots, Space, Codex Cloud, and so many more of our launches will come to web and desktop same day.
Era of the megaproject begins.
Charlie Holtz of Conductor, the app for running several coding agents at once, on bringing a Codex subscription into it.
We've partnered with OpenAI to bring Sign in with ChatGPT to Conductor!
You can now bring your Codex subscription to Conductor in a few clicks:
Max Stoiber, who works on plugins and MCP at OpenAI, on what plugin extensions are built on.
super excited to announce plugin extensions today 🎉
you can now use the exact same platform we use to build ChatGPT features like meetings, health, finance, and many others 🤯
all based on the same MCP & MCP Apps you’re already used to: https://github.com/openai/mcp-extensions
Tibo's own one-picture summary, posted as the keynote ended.
Little summary
Tibo on plugin extensions: the platform OpenAI builds ChatGPT's own features on, opened to developers.
We are opening up our platform and you can now build full native apps with plugin extensions, and ship them right in ChatGPT. We have over 1.2B weekly users and will surface relevant plugins right in the conversations.
Noam Brown, who researches reasoning at OpenAI, on what a dot did for Noam Brown over the weekend before the launch.
Was testing out dots over the weekend and it figured out how to save me ~$500/yr in recurring charges. Most impressive part was when it connected to customer service and handled a whole texting convo on my behalf.
Derya Unutmaz, an immunologist and professor, at the keynote, on what Codex in the cloud means for somebody who builds from a phone.
Another new Codex feature I’m incredibly excited about is working in the cloud!
You can now keep building on your iPhone without access to your computer. It’s a game changer for vibe coding with Codex!
Higgsfield AI, which makes an AI creative suite, launching a creative crew built on dots the same morning.
Introducing OpenAI’s Dots x Higgsfield.
Your always-on Higgsfield creative crew keeps working while you’re away.
Check in by text, call or email, and pause the work whenever you need.
Powered by GPT-6.1 Sol.
OpenAI's developer account on what a dot is for, if what you do all day is ship software.
dots.
An always-on agent with its own cloud computer and access to your plugins and context.
Powered by GPT-6 Astra, your dot proactively keeps your projects moving.
Here’s what developers can hand off to their dot:
– Triage recurring bug reports and feature requests across your connected apps.
– Scope failing builds and feature improvements around your priorities.
– Build and test changes with Codex, then bring back complete PRs for your review.
Open your dot’s cloud computer to inspect the work, or connect your own so it can work with your local files and code.
Tibo, half an hour into the keynote, on who gets a dot today. It had been reported that morning that dots would need the $200 plan.
Dots are included in all Pro, Business Premium and Enterprise plans. This includes the Pro 100 plan. We’ll be looking to further expand access soon.
Cognition, the company behind Devin, putting 6.1 Sol in Devin within the hour, with its own benchmark and its own cost per task.
GPT-6.1 Sol is now available in Devin.
On FrontierCode 1.1, GPT-6.1 Sol scores 60.4%, in line with GPT-6 Sol (60.7%), but at a fraction of the cost. At medium reasoning effort, it costs $0.31 per task, 81% less than GPT-6 Sol at max effort.
Derya Unutmaz, an immunologist and professor, had 6.1 Sol early too, and filmed this from the keynote as it was announced.
Next up is GPT-6.1 Sol, which I also had early access to for some time, and I am super excited about it! In my testing it is as good as GPT-6 Astra but faster and much cheaper. This will have a massive impact on building with Codex!
Tibo on how much the Responses API carries a year on.
Token traffic on responses API has increased 100X compared to today last year. Meanwhile the team improved reliability with 99.9% uptime and improving performance significantly.
