About the Talk and Speakers

GreenSole – Step Towards Sustainability

Shriyans Bhandari (CEO & Co-founder, GreenSole) will throw light on the environmental impact of making and discarding shoes, and the rationale behind the GreenSole venture, which recycles discarded shoes into comfortable footwear, keeping them away from landfills and providing them to the needy. Shriyans will also take us through the patent regime in India, and GreenSole's successful bid to get patents registered for their work. He will discuss the unique business model GreenSole has developed to achieve significant impact and become a self sustaining venture.

About Shriyans: Shriyans has a Master's in Entrepreneurial Leadership from Babson College and is a passionate athlete with more than 100 long distance races till date in India and abroad. He has spoken at various environmental and entrepreneurship forums including the ones at Harvard Kennedy School, Babson College, MIT, Wharton and TEDx Youth WASO, Dubai. Shriyans is passionate about his vision of bridging the social, economic and environmental gap through Greensole and creating an infrastructure, which allows everyone to have the basic necessity of footwear forever.

TESSOL – Creating sustainable farm to fork cold chain solutions

Rajat Gupta (Founder CEO, TESSOL) will discuss the inspiration behind and the development of TESSOL's proprietary PLUGnCHILL technology (fuel-free refrigeration) which provides end to end solutions for a sustainable Agricultural and Pharmaceutical Cold Chain. He will discuss the challenges in development of such a technology in the Indian context as well as how vital funding is for TESSOL and the challenges around obtaining funding. Rajat will also throw light on the cleantech funding landscape and how it has evolved in India over the last three years.

About Rajat: Rajat has worked extensively in the energy space across India, Europe and US. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School (2010) and has worked with several early stage startups like 3Tier, Flodesign, Promethean Power. As an entrepreneur-in-residence (2012) at Infuse Ventures, he led their venture creation initiatives with an aim to create and incubate innovations in the cleantech space. He successfully launched the first venture accelerator for cleantech in India. Rajat founded TESSOL with a vision to create a farm to fork cold chain in India.
