Every Founder has a story that is filled with roller coaster rides, adventure, ups, downs and a few directions which you never knew existed. Deepak Ghaisas joins us in this session of Founder’s Speak to narrate the story of I-flex, a B2B tech company he co-founded which had a valuation of 4.5 Billion dollars. We will get an insight into the challenges he faced, milestones he conquered, successes he enjoyed and what were the most important things that fuelled his company's growth.

Deepak is a qualified Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant, and Company Secretary. He began his career with Radhakrishna Group and Tata Unisys. After that, he had a brief stint in the food industry. At the end of which, he started on his journey with I-flex in 1993. It is India's first product-oriented software company to succeed globally. Most popularly known for its banking software called Flex cube which is still a preferred tool all across the world, I- flex made its mark on the BFSI sector over 3 decades.

Deepak is currently the chairman of the Gencoval group of companies that are working with some cutting edge technologies in the field of stem cell banking and other innovative healthcare services. He is also a part of the core management of a VC firm called Exfinity venture partners which manages a corpus of more than 100cr rupees. Some areas of interest for Exfinity include Mobility, Cloud, Software-defined hardware, IoT, Analytics, AI, etc
Tech startup founders must definitely attend this session to get an overview of what goes into building a legacy.

After his talk about his journey we will have a Q&A round. Then the floor shall be open for networking.

The people

These open and free events are hosted across cities and countries as part of a broader effort to keep the startup ecosystem accessible, inclusive, and connected. You’ll find a diverse mix of participants: early-stage founders, students, aspiring entrepreneurs, professionals exploring transitions, and others curious about the theme. Each event brings a different experience, shaped by the people who show up.

The format

We host panels, talks, socials, open houses, and demo days in different formats. Each individual event listing clearly mentions what’s planned, so you know exactly what kind of experience to expect before you register.

The flow

You can check the exact time and map address of the venue directly on the event page. Once you register, you typically receive four emails: a confirmation, a reminder a day before the event, another on the day itself, and a follow-up after it ends. You can manage your email notifications at any time.

The guest list

The participant list on the event page keeps updating as more people register. Since attendees often sign up through platforms like eChai, Meetup, Eventbrite, and others, the visible numbers may not reflect the complete turnout. Speakers are usually announced three to four days before the event, and you’ll also start seeing featured participants appear as they register.

The context

You can also explore the list of past participants and speakers from each city to get a sense of who typically joins. It offers a glimpse into the kind of conversations, collaborations, and diversity that shape each meetup. Every event has its own purpose, shaped by its theme, setting, and the community that gathers around it.

The experience

Some people come to learn, others to connect, and many just to explore. While the agenda provides structure, the real energy often comes from the spontaneous conversations and shared curiosity in the room. These events are open to a broad mix of people including students, professionals, early-stage founders, and aspiring entrepreneurs. If you are specifically looking to meet only growth-stage or highly targeted founders, this may not be the right format for you. In that case, you might explore scale up dinners and socials for growth stage founders and operators.

The eChai Effect - In Their Words

“When we launched LegalWiz.in back in 2016, concept of procuring legal and compliance services through a digital commerce platform wasn't as prominent in India. eChai played a significant role in providing the early adopters, and building significant positioning in the startup fraternity. Overtime, eChai grew to be a massive network of like-minded entrepreneurs and extended that benefit to all the members in a true "co-rise" spirit. I personally love to attend eChai events, learn from subject matter experts who share relatable and actionable insights and experiences. For startup journeys, it is so important to be surrounded by people who can add relevance, perspective, and push you to do better. Most importantly a group of people where you aren't being judged about things going right or wrong, but be a motivational force that keeps you going, yet keeping you in check. eChai is that place for me!”

"I attended my first eChai event 3 yrs back, and no one knew me in the market. Over the next three years, eChai didn’t only help me with knowledge or networking, but it gave me an identity from being unknown to now being recognized by a group of inspirational entrepreneurs connected with eChai, who have been gracious enough to acknowledge me and Digipple."
