NGOBOX announces India CSR Summit & Exhibition 2016’ and 3rd CSR Impact Awards to be held in Mumbai

NGOBOX.org, the largest development sector platform in India, announces its annual flagship events India CSR Summit & Exhibition 2016’ and 3rd CSR Impact Awards. This year the event will be held in at Bombay Convention & Exhibition Centre in Mumbai on 27-28 September.

The previous two events were held in Delhi and Bangalore in 2014 and 2015 in association with Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India. The Summit has emerged as the biggest CSR partnerships and networking platform for companies, CSR foundations, CSR implementing agencies, NGOs and social enterprises. The CSR Partnership exhibition provides space to CSR Foundations, social enterprises, start-ups and NGOs to present their projects, products and programmes to companies and partner with them for various social initiatives and innovations.

NGOBOX also hosts annual CSR Impact Awards for companies, CSR foundations and CSR implementing agencies to recognise best of CSR projects in various thematic areas. This year the 3rd CSR Impact Awards will be held during the Summit. Last year organizers received over 50 applications from BSE listed top 200 companies, making it one of the most reputed CSR Awards in India. CSR Impact Awards applications are evaluated by an independent institute and then adjudged by a jury.

The Companies Act 2013 mandates that companies of a certain size do spend 2% of their net profit on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects. The Acts says that activities need to be implemented in project mode in partnership with NGOs/Firms/Agencies/Government Bodies. This opens up new opportunities for partnership, alliance and bridging the gap between businesses and NGOs to come together to discuss and explore avenues to solve India’s development-challenges along with focused approach towards sustainability. Both businesses and NGOs have a lot to exchange, share and learn from each other.

There has been a lot of debate on NGOs credibility and businesses responsibility towards society. But post FY 2013-14, now is the time to mutually agree on a common path towards CSR partnerships and project implementation. Now is the time when companies come forward and erase all their apprehensions about civil society organizations. Simultaneously, NGOs and Social enterprises need to take a step forward to present to businesses that they are as efficient in delivering on grounds as businesses are. The trust deficit has to be bridged with a new approach towards partnership to create scope for reliability, transparency and making impact at the grass-root level.

Many novel approaches of CSR partnerships and project implementation have been presented in CSR policies of companies. Some of them have chosen own Foundation over grass-root NGOs while many of them have banked on expertise of local NGOs rather than partnering with big brands of civil society arena.

Many of us believe that Swachh Bharat was a preferred choice of companies for CSR project implementation in 2015-16 while a few deem that Skilling India was a preferred choice of companies. Let’s put this all in statistics and see how and where companies have invested their CSR fund in 2015-16 and what they offer for 2016-17. To see an snapshot of CSR spend by big 250 BSE listed companies, download 'India CSR Outlook Report 2015'.

The ‘India CSR Summit 2016’ is all about sharing the numbers in black and white, giving you a realistic approach to understand CSR spectrum for the coming years and showcase what and how you can offer best in terms of CSR funding agency or as a CSR implementation partner, service provider or as a consulting or advisory firm.

The eChai Effect - In Their Words

“You don’t plan to build a company via eChai. You just keep showing up … and one day, you realize you did.” I’ve known Jatin since 2012, when I was still deciding what kind of second innings I wanted to play as an entrepreneur. Over the years, through events, chai breaks, intros, and seemingly small conversations, eChai helped shape not just Upsquare but also refined the lens through which we see collaboration. At Upsquare, we’ve hired talent, met partners, discovered co-investors, and built lifelong friendships. One of our joint ventures exists today only because a casual eChai memory sparked a deeper trust. Now, as we build House of Starts — our venture builder — eChai continues to fuel our mission: co-creating a shared future. eChai isn’t just a startup network. It’s a trust network. And for business builders like me, that makes all the difference."

We’re proud to be part of the eChai community. Highly recommended for any organization aiming to grow within the startup space."
