Herik Jaguwala on the Surat edition of GTM & Distribution for Startups: how startups actually find their first customers and turn free users into paying ones.
3 Days Later, But Still Thinking About It !!!
On 22nd August, I attended โ๐๐๐ & ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฎ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฌ: ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ญ ๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐งโ by eChai Ventures .
It was not just about GTM theory. What I really liked was learning how ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ฌ at the ground level, how ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฌ ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ข๐ซ ๐๐ข๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ฌ, build ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฎ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง, use ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ข๐ง๐ , create ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐, and turn free users into ๐ฉ๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ฌ.
A few things I took away:
โข Start with the customer, not just the product.
โข Use education and value to build trust.
โข Networking can become a strong distribution channel.
โข Test paid + organic channels and see what actually works.
โข For B2B, understand the use case and teach the customer how to use your product.
โข Keep multiple touchpoints before expecting a conversion.
๐๐ก๐ ๐๐ข๐ ๐ ๐๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ญ๐๐ค๐๐๐ฐ๐๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐ฆ๐: "A good product is only half the game. Distribution and GTM decide how far it can actually go."
Thanks to the ๐๐๐ก๐๐ข ๐ญ๐๐๐ฆ (Vishal Chopra, Chintan P. & Yash Agarwal) For sharing such amazing insights that make any founder or GTM person think twice while creating a strategy for their product or startup! ๐
