Pricing on the WhatsApp Business Platform

From Meta for Developers 12 min read

  • Since 1 July 2025 Meta charges per delivered message, by category (marketing, utility, authentication) and the recipient's country code.
  • Messages outside a 24-hour customer service window must be templates; free-form replies are only allowed inside it.
  • Meta can change rates only on the first day of a quarter, with at least a month's notice for rate card changes.
  • Businesses may only message WhatsApp users who have opted in to hear from them.

Getting opt-in for WhatsApp

From Meta for Developers 5 min read

  • A business must get opt-in before messaging people on WhatsApp and must have their mobile number.
  • The opt-in must say clearly that the person is opting in to messages from the business, and name the business.
  • Opt-in can be collected by SMS, on a website, through an IVR call flow, or in person or on paper.
  • Recommended: cover the categories of message you will send, give clear opt-out instructions, and honour them.
