Does taking a home loan make sense on irregular founder income?

Approach it more cautiously than a salaried buyer would. A home loan is a fixed, long, monthly commitment, and founder income is often lumpy or delayed, so an EMI that looks affordable in a good month can become a real strain in a lean one. Lenders also lean on steady salary slips, which founders may not have in the usual form. If you do borrow, keep the EMI to a comfortably small share of your reliable income (not your best month), hold a larger cash buffer than the standard advice so a few slow months cannot threaten the roof over your head, and avoid stretching to the maximum the bank will lend. The bank's comfort with the loan is not the same as yours.
