Written for the buyer, which is exactly why a seller should read it. These eight asks (price caps, rollover, overage true ups, pre agreed rate tables, auto renewal) are what a professional procurement team will put in front of you, so decide your position on each in advance.

  • A renewal price cap of 3 to 5 percent is reasonable and most vendors will agree to it.
  • Write the cap to cover substantially similar functionality, or a vendor repackages around it.
  • Auto renewal notice windows vary from 30 to 90 days, and missing one locks in the term.
  • Ask for rollover of unused volume, quarterly overage true ups instead of monthly arrears, and a pre negotiated rate table for growth.
